The internationally-known pop artist duo will have their works on display at the iconic Sunset Strip throughout the summer. Wonder-Land is a perfect collaboration with Mondrian Los Angeles’ whimsical design and storied Hollywood past. The show complements the iconic hotel’s audacious $19-million dollar Alice In Wonderland-inspired redesign, and adding a tongue-in-cheek element for guests and revelers looking to escape reality on the Sunset Strip.

Celebrated for their nude depictions of personalities like Kim Kardashian
West, Emily Ratajkowski and Amber Rose, The Kaplan Twins’ latest paintings continue to utilize the quirky, ridiculous and engrossing culture of internet fame while exploring new modes of communication, and the resulting evolution of language and symbolism. To celebrate the iconic status Mondrian boasts on the Sunset Strip, The Kaplan Twins will be debuting four “iconic supermodel” portraits in Wonder-land featuring the legendary Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.

In their new series of oil paintings, The Kaplan Twins incorporate witty text, humorous ideograms, and “trendy” objects to pull from popular iconography. Allowing for commentary on “overheard” and “millennial culture”, compositions are driven by ubiquitous social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

The Magic Box has transformed the Mondrian’s hotel lobby into a rotating art gallery exhibit showcasing notable contemporary pop-artists, including Tony Kelly, Michael Turchin, Mikael B, and MattSmiley. Wonder-land will remain on view throughout summer 2019. More information on The Kaplan Twins and works available for purchase at Kaplan Twins.
